Tea Set - Black and White

I thought I'd see how my tea set shot looks in black and white. I used the GIMP's desaturate feature based on luminosity. Which do you think is better: the color version, or this black and white version?

This is a tea set from Hong Kong, China. I took this shot in December of 2007 with an old Pentax K1000 35mm film camera and scratched 50mm lens. You can find the K1000 and 50mm lens used here.
